How does a MUD differ from a MMORPG? Is it just a matter of game size?

It really depends on what you think a MMORPG is. When I think of MMORPG,
I really think World of Warcraft, Everquest, games like that. Visually
stunning games, following the RPG genre. MUD's are text based. That's
the biggest difference.

Now, if a MUD can be an MMORPG, it would probably be size of the game.
Amount of players likely fall into the decision also, if you only have
10 players, how is it MASSIVE?

stole parts of their code. I'd say MMORPG is more commercial and MUD is
more free base.
