Stripping color codes

I am using ROM 2.4b with lopes color code. I want to change the
function do_bamfin and do_bamfout (poofin and poofout) so that when it
checks to see if your name is in the string you put, it will remove
color codes when it checks. So mainly all im looking for is a color
stripper, if i put in {DI a{Bm {CHere{x.
I want it to return I am Here. I tried to do it myself but I cant
figure out what i keep doing wrong. Any assitance would be
appreciated.

Thanks for your help Kyndig but all that snippet does is count and
return a number, i need it to remove the color codes and return the
string, i tried changing strlen_color code there but it ended up
coring the MUD after trying many different ideas. Any more help?
